Active Protective Net System Structure Configuration

The active protective net system mainly consists of wire rope nets, wire rope anchors, support ropes, stitching ropes, and steel wire mesh.

The system utilizes various flexible mesh structures, primarily composed of wire rope nets, which are installed and tensioned over the surface of

slopes or unstable rock formations. It is designed to effectively prevent weathering, surface erosion, rock peeling, and potential collapse of

unstable rocks or soil masses. By reinforcing the slope surface and controlling the movement range of falling rocks, the system provides an effective

reinforcement and containment function.

The working principle is similar to traditional surface stabilization methods such as shotcrete anchors and soil nail walls. However, due to its excellent

flexibility, the active protection system can transfer localized concentrated loads to surrounding areas. Components such as wire rope nets,

conventional steel wire grids (commonly known as wire mesh), and high-strength TECCO steel wire grids work together to distribute loads evenly

across the entire system.

Through this overall load-bearing effect, the system improves the stability and protection capacity of the slope, allowing it to withstand larger

external forces while reducing the anchoring requirements and stress concentration on individual anchors.

Because of its open and permeable structure, the system allows groundwater to drain naturally, preventing slope instability caused by increased

water pressure. In addition to improving slope stability, it also reduces further weathering and erosion of the slope surface.

The flexible design of the system does not impose strict requirements on slope geometry and does not damage the original terrain or vegetation

conditions. Plants can continue to grow through the open mesh structure, allowing the root systems of vegetation to combine with the protection

system to enhance soil reinforcement.

As a result, the active protective net system effectively controls slope damage, reduces soil erosion, preserves natural landscapes, and achieves

both slope stabilization and environmental protection objectives.

Simple Active Protective Net System

The basic active protective net system consists of:

Edge (or upper edge) wire rope anchors

Support ropes

Stitching ropes

Wire rope nets

A typical configuration includes:

D0/08/300 wire rope net + upper and lower edge anchoring + upper and lower edge (or side) support ropes

Common system configurations include:

Wire rope anchors + support ropes + stitching ropes + recessed pit tensioning system

or:

Edge (upper edge) anchoring system (wire rope anchors with 2–4 m length and 4.5 m spacing) + vertical and horizontal support ropes

(2 × Ø16 mm) + wire rope net (◇08/300, 4 × 4 m panels) + stitching ropes (Ø8 mm).
